When is a cardholder required to pay for an eLearning course?
This instruction applies to the following RIW System User Roles:
- RIW Cardholder
- Advanced Project Admin
- Employer Admin
- Employer Admin - No Payment
Payment for eLearning courses in the RIW System depends on how the course is funded. There are three possible payment methods:
Employer Paid (POA Facility) – If the requesting employer has an existing Pay On Account (POA) facility with RIW, all enrolments and course fees are billed directly to the employer.
- Free Courses – Some course content owners choose to offer their courses free of charge to RIW cardholders.
Cardholder Paid – In cases where the employer does not cover the cost and the course is not free, the RIW cardholder must pay before gaining access to the course.
Course fees range from $10.00 to $44.00, as determined by the course owner.
If a cardholder is required to make a payment, please refer to How a Rail Industry Worker can complete an eLearning course where payment is required? for instructions on how to complete the process.
