How does a Network Operator edit their network details and requirements?



Network details and requirements can be edited and amended.  Care needs to be taken when making changes as these can impact a wide range of functions and access.



This instruction applies to the following RIW System User Roles: 

  • Network Manager
  • Network Manager - Read Only (view only access)


Step 1: Log in to the RIW System

Go to https://app.riw.net.au and login using your credentials. 


Step 2: Administration tab

Click on the Administration tab which is located at the top right hand side of the main dashboard.



Step 3: Network shortcut

Click on the Network shortcut


Step 4: Network summary

Click on the network name to highlight the row and click on the Edit button.





Step 5: Network Details tab


Extreme caution should be exercised before amending any Network details. Please contact the RIW Service Desk for further advice if required.


Editing the main Details of the assigned Network could have wide-ranging effects, extreme caution should be used when changing this information. Any changes made to the name will be updated wherever this name is referenced. If the Is Active checkbox is deselected, the Network, its projects, sites (and related zones) will also become inactive and will not be available for selection when swiping into a site or when awarding related Network competencies and job roles. 

 

Network Managers may also define a Rail Corridor Access Job Role, which is a mandatory requirement for any network job role created for the defined network.  The job role selected will also be used as part of the calculation to determine the rail/non-rail status of a cardholder when accessing site via a Kiosk solution.


Any changes made are confirmed by clicking on the Save button.




Step 6: Network Requirements tab

The Network Manager can add/edit requirements for the Network. Pre-requisite requirements are competencies and job roles that a RIW cardholder must hold to gain access to that Network. For example, if asbestos is known to be at the Network, a RIW cardholder may need to have undergone asbestos safety training, otherwise the RIW cardholder will be denied access.




Step 7: Adding a requirement

To add requirements, click the Add button.


 

Step 8: Add Entry Rule

On the Add Entry Rules screen, specify the competency or job roles required for the Network.  Please note when adding requirements that variable groups of requirements can be created where either:

  1. All of the requirements in one (or more) groups are required (using the AND operator)
  2. Only one of multiple requirements in one or more groups are required (using the OR operator)
  3. A singe group or combinations of such groups are required.


Please read the detail on the Add Entry Rules screen for further direction.


Search for each requirement in the relevant competency or job role field by starting to type in the field. In the example below, we have added a generic MTA induction as a Network based competency, and the MTA Operator 01 role as a Network Job Role.



When the required competency or job role has been surfaced, click Add to each of the rules to add it to the requirements. The requirements will now display on the bottom of the screen.  





When the rule is completed, click on the Save button.


Network requirements have now been set.

What is automatic visibility of a cardholder who holds a Network Operator role?



When a cardholder holds a valid Network Operator role, the Network Operator has automatic visibility of the cardholders profile including visibility of all valid National and Network Operator owned job roles for that Network.  A Network Operator will not have visibility of any other Network Operator job roles under this relationship.


Visibility of a cardholders profile is ended when an leave date is applied to the cardholders job role by the cardholders Primary Employer.
