Does a Rail Industry Worker card expire?


No. RIW cards do not expire. 

Your RIW card will remain valid as long as you are enrolled in the RIW Program and your annual cardholder subscription is current.


Why does my card show an expiry date of ID Check Expiry Date?

Following the September 2026 update, RIW cards will no longer expire. The 10-Year ID check was introduced instead with expiry notifications sent out when the renewal is required. See the How does a cardholder complete an ID check? article for more details.


When do I need a new card?

A new card may be required in specific circumstances. Please refer to the article When is a new card required? for further details.
