How is a site block lifted following a non-negative breathalyser test?


This article details how to remove a site block following a non-negative breathalyser (BrAC) test.


As part of Breathalyser integration, a designated site contact will receive a notification via email and SMS for individuals that have received a non-negative result from a breathalyser test conducted at site. In addition to this, Rail Industry Worker's who receive a non-negative result will have their card ‘site blocked’ until an Employer, Project or Site Admin lifts the block from the worker's profile following a second confirmatory test.  If the second confirmatory test results in a confirmed positive, then a Network Operator block will be applied.


Please ensure site requirements are followed in regards to secondary and confirmatory testing.



This instruction applies to the following user roles:

  • Advanced Project Admin
  • Employer Admin (where designated as the Contractor in Charge)
  • Employer Admin - No Payment (where designated as the Contractor in Charge) 
  • Project Admin
  • Site Admin

Go to https://app.riw.net.au and log in using your credentials.

Click on Search for My People.

On the People screen, use the search filters to locate the Rail Industry Worker and click Search. Once located, click on the worker's profile and Edit.

Once the Rail Industry Worker profile is displayed, click on the Blocks option on the left-hand menu.


All current blocks will display.


Click on the block item you wish to remove, then Lift.

On the Lift Block screen, add the Authorised To Be Lifted By name to lift the block and click Save.



The site block has now been removed.


Clicking on the Show All radio button and search will show the block has been lifted.
