What is the RIW Program?
The Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Program provides a single online competency management system for Australian rail workers. The program was designed to establish a cohesive, national approach to competency management thus allowing access and portability for rail workers across each of the different RIW participating rail networks.
The RIW Program meets regulatory requirements and complies with the National Rail Safety Law. By law, every contractor and staff member working on the rail network in any capacity must be able to provide proof of competency. The competency required by the cardholder will depend on the role or task that the cardholder wishes to engage in.
The RIW Program assists in reducing the risk of untrained people working on the rail network.
