How does a company monitor expired and expiring RIW cards?


RIW cards no longer expire.

Following the June 2026 update, RIW cards no longer expire, and Employers do not need to monitor the card expiry dates.


In order for a worker to have Authority to Work and use the card, they would need to have a current annual cardholder subscription, a lapsed subscription will prevent site access even if the physical card is valid. Please refer to our article How does a company pay the annual cardholder subscription? for more information.


To monitor subscription status across your workforce, use the Expiries > Subscriptions screen in the RIW System. This will show workers whose subscriptions are expiring within the next 90 days or have recently lapsed. Please refer to our article How does a company monitor expiries? for more information.
