What are the different types of swipe events and deny reasons in the RIW System?


This article details the different type of swipe events and deny reasons in the RIW System.  Swipe events and their accompanying deny reason (where access is denied) is recorded against all swipe activity when a Rail Industry Worker presents their card to sign in or out of site, or when spot checked.


Swipe events and deny reasons can be viewed on on the Swipes tab in the RIW System, and can also be reported in custom reports.



This instruction applies to the following user roles:

  • Employer Admin
  • Employer Admin - No Payment
  • Employer Admin - Read Only

Access Denied - ManualWhen a Rail Industry Worker is manually denied site access by an Access Controller on the RIW App or Web Card Reader.
  • Appears unfit for duty
  • Does not hold the correct competencies
  • Does not hold the correct roles
  • Inadequate PPE
  • Inappropriate behaviour
  • Other network block
  • Outside Working Hours

Access Denied - SystemWhen a Rail Industry Worker is automatically denied site access on the RIW App or Web Card Reader.

  • Site Block Exists
  • Outside Working Hours
Automatic Access DeniedWhen a Rail Industry Worker is automatically denied site access on a Physical Access Control (PAC) device.

Automatic Swipe inWhen a successful swipe in event is recorded on a Physical Access Control (PAC) device.
Automatic Swipe OutWhen a successful swipe out event is recorded on a Physical Access Control (PAC) device.
Award CompetencyWhen a competency is awarded to a Rail Industry Worker by an Access Controller in the RIW App or Web Card Reader.
Award Competency DeniedWhen a competency is awarded to a Rail Industry Worker by an Access Controller in the RIW App or Web Card Reader, however the cardholder would otherwise be denied access to site as per automatic deny reasons.

Cardless Award CompetencyWhen a competency is awarded to a Rail Industry Worker by an Access Controller using the Forgotten Card function in the RIW App or Web Card Reader.
 
Cardless Spot CheckWhen a successful spot check event is recorded for a Rail Industry Worker by an Access Controller using the Forgotten Card function in the RIW App or Web Card Reader.
Cardless Swipe InWhen a successful swipe in event is recorded for a Rail Industry Worker by an Access Controller using the Forgotten card function in the RIW App or Web Card Reader.
Cardless Swipe OutWhen a successful swipe out event is recorded for a Rail Industry Worker by an Access Controller using the Forgotten card function in the RIW App or Web Card Reader.

Kiosk Access DeniedWhen a Rail Industry Worker is automatically denied site entry when swiping in at a Kiosk.

Kiosk Swipe inWhen a successful swipe in event is recorded for a Rail Industry Worker at a Kiosk.

Kiosk Visitor Access DeniedWhen a visitor is automatically denied site entry when swiping at a Kiosk.

  • Visitor Pass Invalid Site

  • Visitor Pass Cancelled
Kiosk Visitor Swipe inWhen a successful swipe in event is recorded for a visitor at a Kiosk.

Kiosk Visitor Swipe OutWhen a successful swipe out event is recorded for a visitor at a Kiosk.

Muster List Swipe OutWhen a muster list swipe out is performed by a Site Admin, Project Admin or Advanced Project Admin.
Risk Assessed Swipe inWhen an Access Controller performs a risk assessed swipe in on the RIW App or Web Card Reader where the Rail Industry Worker was initially denied access in excess of site working hour rules.
Self Swipe InWhen a Rail Industry Worker has successfully self-swiped in (where self-swipe is enabled) using the RIW App.
Self Swipe OutWhen a Rail Industry Worker has successfully self-swiped out (where self-swipe enabled) using the RIW App.

Spot CheckWhen a Rail Industry Worker has been spot checked by an approved Spot Checker in the RIW App or Web Card Reader.

Swipe in
When a successful swipe in event is recorded for a Rail Industry Worker by an Access Controller on the RIW App or Web Card Reader.

Swipe OutWhen a successful swipe out event is recorded for a Rail Industry Worker by an Access Controller on the RIW App or Web Card Reader.

Team Swipe OutWhen an Access Controller has swiped out their team in the RIW App or Web Card Reader.
Visitor Access Denied - ManualWhen visitor access is denied manually by an Access Controller on the RIW App or Web Card Reader
  • Appears unfit for duty
  • Does not hold the correct competencies
  • Does not hold the correct roles
  • Inadequate PPE

Visitor Access Denied - SystemWhen visitor access is automatically denied on the RIW App or Web Card Reader.

Visitor Muster List Swipe Out

When a muster list swipe out, which includes a visitor, is performed by a Site Admin, Project Admin or Advanced Project Admin.
Visitor Spot CheckWhen a Visitor has been spot checked by an approved Spot Checker in the RIW App or Web Card Reader.
Visitor Swipe inWhen a successful swipe in event is recorded for a visitor by an Access Controller on the RIW App or Web Card Reader.

Visitor Swipe OutWhen a successful swipe in event is recorded for a Visitor by an Access Controller on the RIW App or Web Card Reader.

Visitor Team Swipe OutWhen an Access Controller has swiped out their team in the RIW App or Web Card Reader, and where the team included a visitor.
